Spotify and Boxee Box by D-Link </br>a match made in heaven

Spotify and Boxee Box by D-Link
a match made in heaven

So I was at a Salesforce conference in Sydney a week ago called Cloudforce and Spotify did their presentation on their use of Salesforce (like Rypple) and how they integrate the packages into their company with such great success. While surfing around the internet I came across Spotify’s competition page on Facebook, I thought to myself, no harm in trying and entered their competition and thought no more, as you do when you enter competitions.

So last night i get an email from Spotify saying “i won a Boxee Box and a 3 month subscription to Spotify on their Premium package” – i was jumping for joy. It’s not often i win something and for this to come out of the blue, i was totally wrapped.

Using Boxee and Spotify is just a match made in heaven. I can now have my home entertainment system hooked up together and pump out some great trax while I’m entertaining, working around the house or just chilling and taking time out.

To have Spotify working on the Boxee you must subscribe to the premium package, which is around AU$11 or AU$12 per month, which is nothing, what can you buy for that amount of money these days and spread it over 4 weeks. If you purchase an album in other services like iTunes, you are looking at up to $20ish dollars an album, so Spotify is just the perfect solution to downloading and listening LOTS to track and albums, either streaming it or actually downloading it to your mobile device or computer. Unfortunately, with Boxee, you can’t download it to the box but streaming is just fine.

Take advantage of your favourites and preload all your tracks into it, this way you can then walk away and listen to your line up of music without having to hunt around for it.

All in all, Boxee and Spotify are just perfect together for your home entertainment pleasure, inexpensive packages and a great range of music… check them out today!

The Blogger’s Handbook

The Blogger’s Handbook

Well normally i would rate apps and software, so this time i’m going old school media.

I was at a conference last week and walked past a newsagent, normally i wouldnt go into one but i was filling in time, i checked out the tech section and picked up a copy of “The Blogger’s Handbook”.

I was very impressed with the content of this magazine. Jammed pack of all sorts of information about blogging platforms such as:

Twitter
WordPress
Drupal
Joomla
and much more…

This magazine is beautifully set out with detail that captures your eye (and your imagination) my head was filled with more idea’s of how to configure my sites.

For a magazine, its very thick and glossy, which is great, as it has plenty of content to help out with you blogging needs, in fact, 180 pages of social and online goodness!

To purchase it in Australia, it costs about $24.95 through any good newsagent or you can order it online through Imagine Shop for £12.99 plus postage, if you have found another place to purchase, id love to know!

If you have an interest in blogging, grab yourself a copy of this magazine, you wont be disappointed! The magazine also comes with a bonus DVD attached to the back.

The blogger’s Handbook Volume 2 is also out, im yet to grab a copy of this but will have one as soon as i sort one out!!! So i will let you know how i go!

Oh and I forgot to mention, there are many titles that are also offered via a digital format which can be downloaded, check out Zinio – Web Designer Magazine

Have you tried CLIK for iPhone?

Have you tried CLIK for iPhone?

Well, i follow some random people on Twitter and also some big names too, i like to follow technology and social media Twitter accounts and I get some great idea’s from reading peoples tweets. But i recently followed @Clik.

I got a Direct Message (DM) from Clik the other day to try their iPhone app, i thought “why not give it a crack!”, so i downloaded the CLIK app (which is free) from iTunes and installed it on my phone.

I ran the app and was instantly amazed.

So, you run the app on your phone and follow the very simple instructions, you dont have to sign up for anything, just run it, then on a device which has a browser, visit www.clikthis.com. The browser will then produce a QR code on the screen, hold up your phone which is running Clik, point it at the browser and it scans the QR code in automatically. Now, look back at your iPhone again and now there is a list of video’s you can browse, select a video or search for a video to play but instead of watching it on your phone, it will play in the browser… now i think this is pretty sweet… i am totally amazed!!!

Clik describes themselves as “a brand new Smart TV platform that lets you turn any screen with a browser into your screen by simply scanning it with your smartphone” as per their twitter bio.

All in all, i must say, this is one of my favourite iPhone apps at the moment…

I also tried bringing up the browser on a D-Link Boxee Box and once again, this app just magically works, HD Video’s on the big screen! NICE!

So if you havent tried CLIK, give it a go and download it to your iPhone or Android today!

Head on over to http://discover.clikthis.com/ and check it out… by the way, i also love their site… Nice jobs CLIK!
